Emerging Leaders Program

Dear Educators,

The Catholic Psychotherapy Association (CPA) is an interdisciplinary association of mental health professionals and those in allied fields including psychiatrists, psychiatric nurses, psychologists, professional counselors, social workers, marriage and family therapists, pastoral counselors, and academicians committed to restoring the dignity of the human person and strengthening Christian families.  We strive to effectively and ethically integrate Catholic spirituality with empirically based mental health treatments.

We are sponsoring an Emerging Leaders program designed to identify and support Catholic students in the mental health field. We are asking for Department Chairs and Professors to nominate a Catholic student who has demonstrated both academic achievement and a commitment to Catholic values.

Please submit the name and contact information of your student with a short description of how the student lives out their Catholic faith while striving for the highest standards of academic achievement. Nominations will be accepted through January 15th, 2019. Students who are chosen will receive:

  •  Free registration to the 2019 CPA annual conference in Atlanta, GA
  •  Invitation to our networking events which will include the opportunity to connect with leading Catholic clinicians and academicians
  •  Recognition at our Luncheon
  •  Pairing with a mentor who will be available to discuss opportunities and challenges of working in private practice/agencies/universities/hospitals as a Catholic mental health professional
