Integratus, the official journal of the Catholic Psychotherapy Association, is pleased to announce a special call for manuscript submissions about the legacy and contributions of Dr. Conrad W. Baars. Dr. Baars was a noted Catholic psychiatrist and developed an integrative theory of emotion that drew upon Catholic anthropology and the human need for unconditional love. He applied that theory in clinical practice by focusing on affirmation. Dr. Baars, in addition, treated many Catholic priests and religious. His scholarly contributions are expansive through journal articles, reflections, and books. He was a pioneer in the integration of Catholic thought, psychiatry, and mental health clinical practice. Integratus is excited to partner with Dr. Suzanne Baars on this special call for manuscript submissions.

1. Manuscript submissions may be…
a. Case studies that apply Dr. Conrad Baars’ theoretical scholarship in clinical practice.
b. Empirical investigation of Dr. Conrad Baars’ theories, assumptions, and principles.
c. Theoretical, historical reflection, critique, and exploration of Dr. Baars’ work.
d. Literature review that provides an analytic overview, clinical implications, limitations, and future directions of Dr. Baars’ work
2. Submitted manuscripts will go through the standard review process as well as editorial overview by Dr. Suzanne Baars.
3. Manuscripts selected for publication will reflect the general standards of Integratus as well as fit with this special call.
Timeline/Deadlines
- Author(s) may submit a preliminary abstract to Integratus editors, Drs. Robert Kugelman and Jesse Fox by July 1, 2023. Email address: integratus@catholicpsychotherapy.org
- Submitted abstracts should be a maximum of 500 words and include a title, author(s) name and contact information, summary of the manuscript idea and explicit description of fit with this special call focused on Dr. Conrad Baars.
